Leading building contractors
What started in 1950 out of the back of a pickup truck by Norman Nordstrom, has now turned into owning a city block in Melrose, WI. Norman started the business after a farmer asked for help with an addition to a barn. In 1965, Norman’s brother, Howard joined in. Then in 1975, they were going to join as a partnership, but with the sudden passing of Norman, Howard took over the business and ran it out of his garage at home on the farm.
Not only doing carpenter-concrete and masonry work, Howard also took on selling and installing farm equipment. In 1988, Melrose hardware and lumber came up for sale and Howard and his son Eric decided to make the change and buy the store and move their business to town. When Howard passed in January 2011, Howard’s wife Ann sold the business to their son Eric Nordstrom, son in law Darrell Abbott, and nephew Terry Nordstrom… with whom the business is still going strong.
